~ My Very First Cabinet Redo~

Who doesn't love a before and after? Even if it's not one you totally love it's still fun to see the changes someone has made to something in their life.

As I look at the title to this post I realized that this is my
only "cabinet" redo...so far. I have 2 more bathrooms and an entire kitchen worth of cabinets that I aspire to redo someday. When that exact day will come is completely unknown to me - but it will come eventually.

I hate oak. I think dark cabinets look a little more "up-to-date" and therefore I experienced with my first try at painting cabinets. The end result? In love!!! (I started in the kid's bathroom so just-in-case I really hated it, it wasn't a bathroom I was in all the time). Things turned out lovely and the vanity went from drab to fab with just a few coats of paint and under 20 or 30 bucks total.

Here's how I did it. I didn't want to sand so I primed the cabinet with a primer made to be applied to surfaces that are not sanded down. Next I applied 2 or 3 coats of a dark brown semi-gloss paint. Finally I applied 2 coats of poly and finished her up. To top it off I replaced the
ugly brass knobs with some new brushed nickel ones.

Oh how I would love to replace the countertop, faucet, mirror, lighting, and vinyl floor but our budget and time has forced me to move at a much slower pace. Which is a good thing - that means more time for the things that really matter - like my bubbling toddler who can't get enough baths and playtime out of her jungle-themed bathroom.

  2. I'm so excited for your new blog! I'll probably end up just copying a lot of your ideas since I am definitely lacking in the creativity department, and you are sooo talented when it comes to decorating!
